2013 Wedding Trend #2: Pantone Color of the Year Emerald

We know, you are probably thinking "How did the color of the year NOT be your #1 Trend". It was hard but I think tomorrow you will understand why lol. For now, we relish in the beauty of this gorgeous color, and Rachael's birthstone :) We are excited to be implementing this color into our events this year.

Are you using this color in your event? We'd love to see your pictures!

2013 Pantone Color of the Year.....

Pantone announced that Emerald Green is the color of the year for 2013! We absolutely LOVE this color (and I know Rachael is even more partial to it since it's her birthstone lol). We cannot wait to incorporate this into our events next year. For now, enjoy a little inspiration from us!

A Look Back: AART Event Planning Loves Soundbar Entertainment!

Last year we would feature incredible vendors every Friday. We are happy to take a look back at a wonderful vendor today: Soundbar Entertainment! Enjoy!

It's Friday and in our industry that means show the love! So AART Event Planning is proud to introduce our new weekly blog on where we will be featuring an incredible vendor, colleague or friend that we love working with and give us inspiration! Today's featured business is Soundbar Entertainment!

David and JT are a husband and wife team that are just amazing!! They really understand what the clients wants and needs are and will keep your guests on the dance floor all night long. They bring a unique experience to your event that your guests will talk about for years to come!

Soundbar also has so many other things to offer their clients such as lighting, plasma video screens, photo booths and more! Hiring them as your entertainment will be a great investment and trust me, they will not disappoint! We are so excited to work with them again and look forward to the many ventures that we will have together in the future! Take a look at some pictures below to get a taste of what your event can be like!

AART Event Planning Look Back: Tips on Thursday DIY Projects

DIY projects are always a big hit. You can incorporate them into any event you are having! Today's look back is about DIY Projects. Enjoy!!

We LOVE DIY projects! They can put a beautiful, sentimental an creative touch to any event. But be careful. One can go a little overboard and end up spending more on unnecessary items. Our tip: go simple and think outside the box.

Dressing up a bistro table for an outside event? Go to your local dollar store and get different size vases and floating candles and dress it up with some ribbon or pearls. Need a children's party favor that you want them to really get use out of? Create and print out a coloring book!

Here are some pictures of some DIY projects that we have done. Just remember, when doing a DIY project, simple can be beautiful. And have fun!!

Yes You Can Have a Wedding Planner!!

We have blogged about this before in So Do I Really Need An Event Planner..... but it is always more meaningful when someone other than a wedding planner sees the importance in us too!

Lauren Grove from Every Last Detail blogged about this very subject a couple years ago and we stumbled upon it today in Twitter! Click on Everyone Can Have A Wedding Planner! to read all about it. We hope you agree and when you are ready, AART Event Planning is here to help plan your wedding and make it a work of AART!

The Do's and Don'ts for a Summer Wedding or Event

As we officially marked the start of summer on Memorial Day we need to think about those Summer weddings or events that are fast approaching. Here is a little list of some Do's and Don'ts to think about:

Do send out Save-The-Dates. Summer is a big time for vacations so make sure you give your guests some notice.

Don't have your event start midday. This is prime time for the sun making it very uncomfortable for your guests. They will have a hard time enjoying your event if they're sweating and overheating. Instead, start late afternoon to early evening.

Do remember the sunblock and bug spray. No bride wants to look back at her pictures and see herself burned because she wasn't prepared. A good item to also have on hand for you and your guests are parasols. They make great sun protection, you can match them to your wedding colors and those pictures would look amazing! It makes for a great favor for your guests too. What's not a good favor for your guests are those bug bites. If you have bug spray accessible for your guests, they will thank you. Think of these items as a must for your bridal kit that day.

Don't serve heavy food. Eating heavy on a hot day will never sit well with anyone. Instead take this opportunity to do something different. Incorporate the traditional BBQ food or perhaps have appetizers served through your entire event. Items like bruschetta or shrimp skewers being passed around to your guests will keep your guests full and happy!

Do think of your bridal attire. What bride doesn't want to look beautiful on her wedding day? But dripping sweat and being uncomfortable because your wearing a gorgeous ball gown is not cute! Think of light, silky flowing fabrics for your dress. Still must have that ball gown? Wear it during the ceremony and then switch into the lighter dress for the reception. What bride wouldn't want two wedding dresses anyway!!?? For the groom, linen suits are always very chic. As for the bridal party, tea length dresses for the girls are a must. Again, think of those lighter fabrics for them. For the men, again they will look great in the linen suit or in true beach wedding fashion, have them in khaki pants and a light button down shirt. If you want to go completely non traditional, have the guys in linen or khaki shorts. Your day, your rules!

Don't go crazy with your hairstyle. Yes every bride looks beautiful with long flowing hair and a veil. A summer wedding is your opportunity to pull your hair back in a beautiful chignon or the very popular fishtail braid, as seen in last month's blog on Summer hair trends. Forgo the veil too. Your whole look should be nice and airy.

Do serve a light non alcoholic drink while your guests arrive. Having a lemonade station with mason jars filled with lemonade and straws to match back to your wedding colors will definitely wow your guests. And they will thank you for that while they patiently wait to see you walk down that aisle!

Now you have all the tips to pull off an amazing summer affair! Have something you'd like to add? Post your comment on our blog. We'd love to hear from you too!

Aelicia & Rachael
